William Blaine Kling, 83, of Ames Place, Williamsport, passed away in his sleep, Thursday, Oct. 14 2010 at the Gatehouse at Divine Providence Hospital.

Bill, as he was known, was born in Williamsport Hospital on Aug. 22, 1927 to the late Sidney Reid Kling and Fredella M. (Koch) Kling and at the age of 2 years moved to White Deer, PA.

He attended a one room school at White Deer High School at Watsontown where he graduated, and at the age of 17 years he enlisted in the U.S.M.C. He served 4 years during W.W.II and was discharged honorably in 1949. He worked for Avco Corp. until his retirement in 1989.

Bill was a retired member of the U.A.W. local 787. A life member of L.O.O.M. #1396 of Mifflinburg, PA and a life member of the American Legion Post 323 of Watsontown, PA and 4th Gap Hunting Camp in Union County.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, James (who was killed in an auto accident at the age of 12 years); two brothers and one sister.

Bill was an avid hunter and fly fisherman until his health prevented him from participating in these activities.

Surviving are his wife Eva M. (Krause) Kling; five daughters, Rosemary Kling, Debra Watts, Barbara (Keith) Crossgrove, Vickie Marino, and Sonya (David) Yost; two sons, William Kling, Jr. and Eric (Sue) Kling; five grandsons, John Watts, Cory Marino, Zachary Marino, Jarad Yost and Daniel Yost; three granddaughters, Jamie (Barry) Vought, Heidi Kling, and Kelly Kling; and one great-grandson, Zachary Rebuck.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions in Bill’s name may be made to The Gatehouse of Divine Providence Hospital, 1100 Grampian Blvd., Williamsport, PA 17701.

It was Bill’s wish that there be no memorial service or visitation. Immediate family members will hold a small private gathering at a later time.
