John H. Dowling, 90, of English Center, died Thursday, February 9, 2017, at Manor Care Jersey Shore.

Born November 17, 1926, in English Center, he was a son of Norman E. and C. Alice (Carson) Dowling. He was preceded in death by his wife of 67 years, Dorothy E. Dowling on June 19, 2013, and 10 brothers and sisters.

John was a 20 year Veteran of the U.S. Army having served during the Korean War.  He retired as a machinist from AVCO, and also was a former employee of Pine Township. He was a member of the VFW Jersey Shore.

Surviving are four sons, John H. Dowling Jr. (Sarah) of Anniston, Ala.,  Donald E. Dowling  (Margaret) of Grantville, George E. Dowling (Anna) of Victory Mills, N.Y., and Leonard E. Dowling (Ceri) of English Center; 17 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, eight great great grandchildren and a sister Lela Yoder of Williamsport.

In keeping with John's wishes services and burial in English Center Cemetery will be held at the convenience of the family. Memorial donations in John's name may be made to a charity of one's choice.
