Grace Page Obituary

     Grace Haynes Page, 96, of Williamsport passed away peacefully Monday, August 12, 2019 at the Williamsport Home with family by her side.

     Grace was born on April 12, 1923 in Salisbury, North Carolina.  The daughter of Jasper Earl (Pat) Haynes and Grace Frasier Haynes.  Along with her parents she was predeceased by her husband Allen P. Page, Jr. (1975) and brother Earl Haynes (2012).

     She earned a bachelor’s degree in home economics from University of North Carolina, Women’s College at Greensboro.  She taught home economics in the N.C. school system before transitioning to a marketing representative for the North Carolina State Dairy Council.

     Following marriage, Grace moved to Williamsport with her husband Allen a lawyer in the firm of McNerney, Page, Vanderlin & Hall.  She was active in a variety of church and civic activities.  These included Junior League, the Boards of the YWCA, James V. Brown Library and the Williamsport Home.  She was a member of Christ Episcopal Church and served as president of the church women.  Grace served as the coordinator of the YWCA travel program for 17 years organizing and leading tours within the state, across the U.S. and worldwide.  She was a gracious hostess to all of her tour groups using her “southern charm” to make everything run smoothly.

     Grace leaves a legacy of service to her children, Allen P. Page, III (Diane) and Margaret Page Redka (James).  Known to her eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren as G.G. (Grandma Grace) she will be remembered for her “classy” style and outstanding hostessing.

     A funeral service to honor Grace’s life will be held 11 a.m.  Monday, August 19th at Pine Street United Methodist Church, 441 Pine Street, Williamsport. The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until the time of the service.  Burial will be held privately at the convenience of the family.

     Flowers will be provided by the family.  In remembrance of Grace Page, those who wish may make contributions to the James V. Brown Library, 19 E 4th St., Williamsport, PA 17701 or the YWCA, 815 W 4th St., Williamsport, PA 17701.
