Betty E. (Tubbs) Springman

Betty E. Springman, 91, of Williamsport died Thursday, July 18, 2019 at the Gatehouse at Divine Providence Hospital.

Born October 26, 1927 in Elkland, she was a daughter of the late Leon E. and Edra F. (Allen) Tubbs, Sr.

Betty was a seamstress at the former Arrow Shirt Co and retired from Weldons.

Surviving are her children, Catherine Patt of Williamsport, Diane Plankenhorn (Charlie) of Williamsport and Edward Rice of Mifflinburg; two brothers, Wayne Tubbs (Sherri) of Elkland and Eric F. Tubbs of Columbus, OH; a sister, Marie Cole of Hummelstown; an adopted granddaughter, Lenora Gamble (David) of Linden; a foster daughter, Anita Hill (Roger) of Williamsport, 22 grandchildren, 37 great grandchildren, 27 great great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews; a daughter-in-law, Trudy Rice and son-in-law John Merkey.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Albert E. Rice; her second husband, Clyde L. Springman; children, Albert E. Rice and Beverly Merkey; siblings, Richard and Leon Tubbs, Jr., Wanita Felix, Lorraine White; a son-in-law, Joseph Patt and grandson, Jeremy Patt.

In keeping with Betty’s wishes, there will be no services.

The family would like to especially thank Betty’s caregivers, her granddaughter, Lana Patt and her great granddaughter, Felicia Evicci.
