William P. “Willie” Merrill Sr., 51, of Bodines died unexpectedly, Friday, July 12, 2019 at his home.
Born December 5, 1967, in Williamsport he was a son of John T. Jr., and Deborah L. (Coup) Merrill and stepson to Rita E. Merrill.
Willie graduated from Williamsport High School and was a self-employed contractor who specialized in roofing.
He enjoyed spending his time outdoors, hunting, fishing, trapping, gardening, planting and growing gigantic pumpkins. Willie loved spending weekends in Elk County at the “Gut Gang Hunting Club” and riding his Harley. He was a lifelong Dallas Cowboys and New York Mets fan. Willie had a great sense of humor and was known for his good jokes and amazing card tricks. He was a good father, son and brother who had a willingness to do anything for his family and will be greatly missed.
Surviving in addition to his father and step mother are two sons; William P. Merrill II and Seth W. Merrill both of South Williamsport; his siblings, John T. Merrill, III (Stacy), of Nesbit, Jason T. Merrill, of Duboistown, Nathan P. Merrill (Heather), of Trout Run, Tiffany G. Beeman (Michael), of Williamsport, and Dustin C. Waugh of Williamsport; a half-sister, Lisa Cardenis, of Montoursville; and several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his mother Deborah and an infant brother Ryan Merrill.
A funeral service to honor the life of William will be held 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 17 at Sanders Mortuary, 821 Diamond St., Williamsport. A viewing will be held from 6 p.m. until the time of service on Wednesday at Sanders.
