William Howard Deavor, Jr., known to many as Bill, passed away on Saturday, May 3, 2025, at the age of 77 in Williamsport, at his home.
Bill was a devoted husband to his beloved wife, Michelle L. (Sander) Deavor, and a loving father to his children, Patty Sementelli McKinney (George), William Deavor, III (Tina), and Alexis Deavor (David Noyes). His role as a family man extended to his role as a proud brother to Barry Deavor (Deb), Steve Deavor (Barb), and Barbara Jo Daniels. He was a cherished grandfather and great-grandfather, who left behind a legacy of love and treasured memories. Bill was predeceased by his parents, William Howard Deavor, Sr. and Betty (Shumaker) Deavor, as well as his sister, Brenda Deavor.
Born on July 17, 1947, in Lewistown, Bill was a man whose presence brought warmth and joy to all who knew him. He was a graduate of Lewistown High School and proudly served his country in the U.S. Army. Upon returning to civilian life, Bill embarked on a diverse career path that saw him managing convenience stores, delivery driving for Coca-Cola, delivering gas for Liquid Carbonics, and ultimately finding his place as a security professional at Lonza. Along with having a strong work ethic, Bill also had an unwavering faith and was a member of Saint John's Newberry United Methodist Church.
Bill's interests were a reflection of his love for life and family. He was a culinary enthusiast, known for his delicious spare ribs, meatloaf, and a lasagna that was uniquely his—always without ricotta. He was meticulous with yard work, and was also a tech-savvy individual. He not only built computers, but also delighted in the challenge and fun of playing games like POGO.
Bill will be profoundly missed by his family, friends, and all who were fortunate enough to know him.
Services will be held at a later date at the convenience of the family.
