Wanda S. Brown, 95, of Linden passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 30, 2024 at Haven Place, Lock Haven.
Born on February 22, 1929, in Salladasburg, she was the last surviving child of George J. and Agnes (Thomas) Cohick.
Wanda's life was characterized by her passion for the simple joys of life and abiding faith. She was affiliated with numerous churches over the years, and was a member of the Grange.
Wanda's role as a wife, mother and grandmother was the one she held most dear. Her influence extended beyond her own family, as she became a cherished caregiver to friends. Those who were fortunate enough to know Wanda experienced firsthand her practice of the biblical principle to "love thy neighbor," as she was always ready to lend a helping hand or offer a comforting presence.
An avid gardener, Wanda found great joy in tending to her fruit trees, from which she harvested pears and apples to create her renowned canned goods. Her thrifty nature shone through these acts of preservation, as she expertly turned the bounty of her garden into treats that would last through the seasons. Wanda's kitchen was a place of warm aromas and bustling activity, where she baked the best French bread and cooked up homemade sauerkraut, much to the delight of her friends and family.
Her friendly demeanor and loving nature made Wanda a beloved member of her community. Her gentle spirit and friendly smile will be remembered by many, as will the countless ways in which she touched the lives of those around her.
She is survived by five children, Rita Sharp of Port Charles, FL, Jim Edwards of Jersey Shore, Tina Seig of Williamsport, Jacalyn Harter (Kenneth) of Trout Run, and Kathryn Lose (Michael) of Waterville; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 29 years, George A. Brown; a son, Victor Edwards; and 12 siblings, Nellie, Dorothea, Grace, Jean, Gloria, Howard, Jay, Mable, Georgine, Raymond, Wilbur and Emily.
Services and burial in Woodward Township Cemetery, will be held privately at the convenience of the family.
