Walter W. Palmeter

Walter W. Palmeter, 80, passed away peacefully on January 1, 2025 at home.

Born April 20, 1944, in Williamsport, he was a son of the late Walter W. and Bertha (Carpenter) Palmeter. Walt graduated in 1962 from Williamsport High School. For over 37 years, he was a machinist at Alcan Cable until retiring in 2003.

Walt's life was marked by an enduring love for his family, a passion for woodworking, and countless joyous moments shared with his beloved grandchildren over games of cards.

He was a frequent and well-known patron of Fin Fur & Feather by Parks, where he created lasting friendships.  

Walt's affinity for wildlife was unmistakable, particularly the bears that roamed near his home. Over the years, he fostered a unique and special relationship with these majestic creatures, embodying a respect and reverence for the natural world that inspired all who heard his remarkable tales. Above all else, he was a cherished family man who loved spending time with those he loved.

Surviving in addition to his wife of 47 years, Dona E. (Allison) Palmeter are three daughters, Cheryl Kittle (Brett) of Williamsport, Christina Hanlon (Thomas) of Forest Hill, MD and Melissa Karney of Avis; eight grandchildren, Bryce (Emily), Logan, Samantha, Cali, Alyssa, Kevin, Erica (Brian), and Brennan; a great-grandson, Haiden; and a brother, Gary Palmeter (Karen).

A private burial in Green Lawn Memorial Park, Montogomery will be held at the convenience of the family.
