Thomas D. Maneval, 88, of Montgomery passed away on, Thursday, January 16, 2025 at Geisinger, Muncy. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 52 years, Carol L. (Hill) Maneval.
Born on August 18, 1936, in Williamsport he was a son of the late Margaret E. (Codney) Maneval and Grantland K. Maneval, and step-son to Phyllis Maneval.
Tom's early years were spent learning the craft of land surveying alongside his father, a trade that would become a lifelong vocation that he would later continue with his brother. His work ethic and precision as a surveyor were a testament to his character, traits that he also brought to his later positions at Thermacore and Overhead Door. His more than two decades of service with these companies were characterized by the same loyalty and excellence that he demonstrated in every aspect of his life.
A proud veteran, Tom served his country with honor in the United States Army. Throughout his life, he remained an active and enthusiastic member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars in Muncy, where his camaraderie with fellow veterans was a source of great pride and fellowship.
Tom's zest for life could be seen in his many interests and hobbies. His love for the outdoors was evident in the countless hours he spent hunting and fishing. Tom's adventurous spirit was equally apparent in his passion for motorcycles. From racing competitions in his younger days to cruising on his cherished Harley "Street Bob," motorcycles were a thrill that fueled his sense of freedom.
He created lasting friendships in the Amish community, serving as a companion while attending auctions, construction sales and horse sales. Tom will be remembered as a kind and friendly soul, someone who could strike up a conversation with anyone and leave them feeling like an old friend.
Surviving are his children, Toma D. Cappella (Stephen Donohue) of Greenville, SC, Jeffery A. Maneval, of South Williamsport, Lisa M. Maneval, of Benton and Robert E. Shifflet of Montoursville; 14 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Michael T. Maneval (Sally) of Liberty and Craig Maneval (Julie) of Montoursville; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a sister, Sally Myers.
