Thad S. Meckley

     On Sunday, May 22, 2022, Thad Stephen Meckley passed peacefully in his sleep in the home his Great Grandfather built.

      A 1983 graduate of Williamsport High School, he was born August 15, 1965, the son of Eugene Meckley and Judith Kolb, grandson of Dr. Charles Kolb and Ardice Kolb.

     As an IUP graduate of History and Journalism, he was passionate about local history and the preservation of Williamsport, writing two historical books about the area, 'Williamsport,' and 'Willamsports Millionaire's Row.' He was a great supporter of locally owned businesses and well known in the community.

     Thad served on the board at Wildwood Cemetery, the Brandon Park Commission and helped with fundraising and donations for the Alzheimer's Association and the Taber Museum for many years.

      In school, he swam competitively, instilling his love of the water in his three daughters, Ella Victoria, Cora Renea and Louisa Mae, who, in addition to his wife of seven years, Holly Renea (Young,) he commonly referred to as his 'Little Women.'

      In a long list of achievements, his love of his children remains his greatest contribution. 

Thad found a story within every brick of this city, history and culture down every street, adventures and something to celebrate every day, and leaves behind a legacy as rich as the history he loved.
     

     A memorial service to honor Thad’s life will be held 6 p.m. Wednesday, June 1 at Sanders Mortuary, 821 Diamond Street, Williamsport. The family will receive friends from 4:30 p.m. until the time of service Wednesday at Sanders. A private burial in Wildwood cemetery will be held at the convenience of his family.
