Steven W. Corter

Steven W. Corter, 71, of Linden passed away surrounded by family and friends Friday, February 2, 2024 at Geisinger Jersey Shore Hospital.

Born March 1, 1952 in Williamsport, he was a son of the late Dale E. Corter and Louise M. (Kreitz) Corter-Gibson.

Steve worked in home building and land surveying, and was a volunteer firefighter with Old Lycoming Township Fire Company for many years. His hands were rarely still, as he was always found tinkering on a project, driven by a curiosity and a knack for fixing things. Above all, Steve was a jokester. His sense of humor was infectious, and he had an unparalleled ability to make friends with anyone he met and bring smiles to people's faces. 

Surviving is his loving wife of 43 years, Brenda J. (Younkin) Corter; children, Matthew Corter of Linden, Renee Peluso (Joe) of Hughesville, and Adam Hauser of Wilmington, DE; four grandchildren, Latisha, Jayden, and Addison Hauser and Kaylee Corter; and a brother, Kevin E. Corter (Suzanne) of St. Petersburg.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter-in-law, Michelle L. Corter.

A memorial service to honor Steve’s life will be held 2:30 p.m. Thursday, February 8 at Sanders Mortuary, 821 Diamond Street, Williamsport. The family will receive friends from 1:30 p.m. until the time of service Thursday at Sanders.
