Shirley F. (Fleckenstein) Wilson

     Shirley F. Wilson, 93, of Williamsport passed away Tuesday, April 13, 2021 at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 58 years, John J. Wilson, Jr. on December 15, 2008. 

     Born September 20, 1927 in Williamsport she was a daughter of the late Leo G. and Dorothy (Clarke) Fleckenstein.

     She was a 1945 graduate of Williamsport High School. Later in life Shirley worked for Bell Telephone as a telephone operator, but the majority of her life was spent turning a house into a home as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great grandmother and friend. She was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Church, Montoursville. Shirley enjoyed reading and was a member of Book Club. She loved antiquing and spending time with her family.

     Surviving are four children, Sherry W. Ford (John) of Elkton, MD, Rebecca J. Wilson of Trout Run, John S. Wilson (Lynda) of Trout Run, and Penny W. Ruggieri of Loyalsock; five grandchildren, Heather Heim, Jeremy Ford, Richard Ruggieri III, Amy Wilson, and Adam Wilson; great-grandchildren, Austin, Ashley, Ryland, Jack, and Desmond; great great grandchildren, Sophie and Kane; siblings, Dorothy Denny (Earl “Bud”) of Williamsport, Marion L. Neyhart of Maine, and Alice Folmar (Jack) of Lebanon; and several nieces and nephews.

     In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by two brothers, Robert and Francis Fleckenstein.

     A memorial service to honor the life of Shirley will be held 11 a.m. Monday, April 19 at Sanders Mortuary, 821 Diamond Street, Williamsport, with Rev. Michael McCormick, officiating. Please adhere to social distancing and mask wearing guidelines. Burial will follow in Green Lawn Memorial Park, Montgomery.
