Shirley A. Gatti, 79, of South Williamsport passed away on Friday, November 17, 2023 at the Gatehouse. She was greeted at the gates of heaven by her beloved husband, Rev. Louis Herman Gatti, who passed on July 12, 2023 to celebrate their 54th anniversary.
Born August 1, 1944 in Charlotte, NC she was a daughter of the late Harry Cameron and Goldie Ruth (Ramsey) Pate.
She was a 1962 graduate of West Mecklenburg High, Charlotte, NC. She received an ABS in business from Dyersburg State College, Dyersburg, TN in 1992.
Shirley was formerly employed as a sales associate at S.H. Kress, Charlotte; a day care teacher at Berclair Church of the Nazarene in Memphis, Tennessee, and a day care teacher at South Williamsport United Methodist Day Care, retiring in October 2010.
Above all else, Shirley’s primary focus and devotion was caring, loving and supporting her children, playing a crucial role by her husband's side throughout both his military career and pastoral ministry in service to others and faithfully serving her Lord and Savior-Jesus Christ. She was gentle, kind, humble, loving, and more than generous and thoughtful of others which made her a blessing to all. She really enjoyed cooking and cake making, arts and crafts, shopping and taking care of children.
Surviving is her son, David Gatti, of South Williamsport; three grandchildren, Amanda Gatti, Blake Gatti and Joseph DeLuna; a sister, Vivian Logan; sisters-in-law, Patsy Pate and Nancy Pate; nieces and nephews, Teresa, Andrea, Dale, Jeffrey, Dean, Tim, Becky, Michael, and Scott; and a large extended family.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her son, Rodney Gatti and his wife Cathy; two brothers, Ralph and Carrol Pate; a sister, Mary Shepard; and two nephews, Darrel and Mark.
A funeral service to honor the life of Shirley will be held 11 a.m. Friday, December 1, at Calvary Church of the Nazarene, 3200 Lycoming Creek Road, Williamsport with the Rev. Teresa Bennett – Smith officiating. Burial will follow in Twin Hills Memorial Park, Muncy. A viewing will be held from 10 a.m. until the time of service Friday at church.
