Seenia M. Leatherbury, 74, of Cogan Station, passed away Friday, August 2, 2024 at home, surrounded by her family. She is survived by her loving husband of 45 years, Edward M. Leatherbury.
Born March 14, 1950, in Philadelphia, she was a daughter of the late Phillip Gillette and Tinia (Butler) Gillette.
Seenia was a graduate of Simon Gratz High School and went on to work for many years as a billing and coding examiner for Highmark. She and her husband also worked for KidsPeace Foster Care in which they opened their home to many, many foster kids throughout their time together.
Seenia enjoyed crocheting and could always be found watching Extreme Makeover: Home Edition. In keeping with her giving heart, she loved to see the ways in which the show helped families in need.
Those who knew her knew that she was a “spitball of fire.” She was spunky, witty, and was always ready with a sarcastic comment. Above all else, Seenia loved her family. Spending time with them, cooking and baking for them, and caring for them were the moments in life she cherished most. She looked forward to the days her family would plan fishing trips, always ready to make new memories together.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by four children, Tanya Butler-Fraley, of Philadelphia, Donavan Butler and Duane Faulkner, both of Williamsport, and Iesha Leatherbury-Glover, of Cogan Station; 14 grandchildren, Daja, Khyle, Donavan, Dontay, Di’mia, Nahjir, Christian, Tariq, Amber, Isiah, Christian, Shane, Hunter, and Kayla; ten great-grandchildren, Kyle, Yen, Si’ani, Aniyah, Zai’yon, Atiyah, Aubrey, Lily Bleu, Kennedy, and DJ; three siblings, Beverly Davenport and Syrena Gillette, of Philadelphia, and Christine Meade, of Williamsport; as well as three “bonus children,” Jazlyn, Shenique, and Diosa and many more.
Seenia was preceded in death by her daughter, Sabrina Butler-Baxter, her son, Rafiq Faulkner, and a sister, Shelia Meade-Jones.
A memorial service to honor Seenia’s life will be held 2 p.m. Friday, September 6, at Sanders Mortuary, 821 Diamond St., Williamsport. The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until the time of service, Friday, at Sanders.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks for cards and contributions to be sent directly to her loved ones to help with expenses.
