Sally B. Metzker, 84, a cherished wife, mother, grandmother and sister, passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 23, 2025 at UPMC Williamsport. Born December 7, 1940, in Colver, she was a daughter of the late Roy and Etta (Klotz) Barnes.

Sally lived a life marked by devotion to her family, her faith, and her community. On January 19, 1963 she married her soulmate, Dale Metzker, in East Freedom and recently they celebrated their 62nd anniversary.

After dedicating 18 years of service to CVS Pharmacy, Sally retired in 2002 and continued to enrich the lives of those around her. She was an active member of Saint John's-Newberry United Methodist Church. She poured her heart into several ministries and brought joy to many through her involvement with the church’s "Hookers" knitting group. Her hand-knitted pieces, ranging from cozy hats to intricate scarves and blankets, were not only a testament to her skill but also her generosity as she gave them away to those in need. One of Sally’s happy places was up in her sewing room, making quilts for those she loved. Sally's commitment to her faith extended beyond the church walls as she served as a faithful volunteer at the West End Christian Community Center Clothes Closet and Thrift Shop.

For Sally, family was everything. She nurtured her family with a love that knew no bounds. Her love extended to friends and strangers alike, always ready to offer a helping hand. Sally cultivated a home filled with love, laughter, and the mouthwatering aromas of her excellent cooking and baking. Those who had the pleasure of tasting her treats knew of her culinary talents firsthand. A woman with a green thumb, Sally took great pleasure in gardening, tending to her plants and flowers.

Surviving in addition to her husband are her children, Steven Metzker (Maureen) of Carlisle, and Susan Gehrum (Dave) of Muncy; three grandchildren, Andrew Metzker (Alexandra) of Covington, Melissa Metzker (Derek Snyder) of Dillsburg, and Sara Gehrum of Muncy. She also leaves behind a sister, Nell Louise Snyder (John) of Hollidaysburg along with several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother Dick Barnes.

As Sally now walks with Jesus, we invite you to honor and celebrate her life at 3 p.m. Sunday, March 2 at Saint John’s-Newberry, 2101 Newberry St., Williamsport with her pastor, the Rev. Dr. Lori Betsworth officiating. The family will receive friends from 2 p.m. until the time of service on Sunday at church. Burial will be held privately in Martinsburg Fairview Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made in Sally’s name to Saint John’s-Newberry Church, 2101 Newberry St. Williamsport, PA 17701 or the West End Christian Community Center, 901 Diamond St., Williamsport, PA 17701.
