Russell Henry Beck

Russell Henry Beck, 95, of Watsontown, formerly of Naylor, GA passed away Friday, August 16, 2024 at UPMC Williamsport.

Born August 2, 1929, he was the oldest child of Willard Theodore and Mary Elizabeth (Sechrist) Beck. Russell was born and raised in Liberty, PA and graduated in 1948 from Liberty High School. On June 27, 1948 he married the love of his life, Betty J. (Brion) Beck and together they shared 76 blissful years.

His career as a self-employed truck driver spanned several decades, during which he became a familiar and respected figure among his peers and within the industry. For over 20 years, he was a faithful member of Lakeland Baptist Church in Georgia where he served as a Deacon.

An avid tinkerer, he was often referred to as a Jack of all trades. His hands, always ready to build or fix anything, found their true expression in woodworking and gardening.

Above all, Russell's heart belonged to his family. He was happiest when surrounded by his loved ones, cherishing every moment spent with them. His stories, laughter, and wisdom filled the family home with warmth and love, creating memories that will be treasured forever.

Surviving in addition to his wife are five children, Linda Long (James Heal) of Spring Hill, FL, Cynthia Crist of Watsontown, Ashley Beck (Kriestan) of Lakeland, GA, Craig Beck (Glenda), of Muncy, and Jeffrey Beck (Joyce), Dasher, GA; 17 grandchildren; 41 great-grandchildren; 18 great-great grandchildren; his siblings, Helen Antes, William Beck (Phyllis), George Beck (Florence), and Harry Beck (Virginia); and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Russell H. Beck; one grandchild; one great-grandchild; and his siblings, Mary Messner, Harford Beck, Carl Beck and Catherine Fullmer.

A memorial service to honor Russell’s life will be held 7 p.m. Friday, August 23, at Sanders Mortuary, 821 Diamond Street, Williamsport.
