Ronald E. “Short” Wertman, 74, of Trout Run died Saturday, May 25, 2019 at UPMC Susquehanna-Williamsport surrounded by his family.
Born April 19, 1945 in Williamsport, he was a son of the late John and Adaline Temple Wertman
Short was a graduate of Williamsport High School. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army. Short was a truck driver for over 45 years. He enjoyed baseball from Little League through the over 50 league. Short was an avid bowler and pool player. He played in the city pool league and received many awards.
Surviving are his wife Jacqueline Bower Wertman of Trout Run; children, Rhonda Sander (Walter) of Williamsport, Gwen Barrett (Craig) of Williamsport, John Kane of Williamsport, Brenda Lee (Ron) of Montoursville, Chip Carnes (Denise) of Williamsport, Tim Carnes of Williamsport, Nikki Jackson (Brian) of So. Williamsport, Gerilyn Koontz of Montoursville, Kate Hill (Larry) of Muncy, Rusty Splain (Jessica) of Williamsport, Jeremy Splain of Trout Run, Erica Splain of So. Williamsport, Jader Wertman of Fla., Penny English of Williamsport, Tina Sholes (Rob) of Williamsport; a sister, Viola Earnest of Warrensville and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, Bruce Kane and brothers, Jesse and John “Joe” Wertman.
A memorial service to honor the life of Short will be held 3 p.m. Saturday, June 1 at Sanders Mortuary, 821 Diamond Street. The family will receive friends from 2 p.m. until the time of service.
