Ronald L. “Hink” Hinkelman, 86, of Danville, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, May 19, 2026 in Danville, PA. He has finally been reunited with his late wife, Carol Ann (Long) Hinkelman, who passed away February 11, 1993.
Born July 15, 1939, in Williamsport, he was a son of the late Chester L. and Sara Helene (Rechel) Hinkelman.
After graduating from Williamsport Area High School, Hink worked as a drafter and estimator for Architectural Precast Innovations, where he was known for his reliability and work ethic.
He created the “Grumpy Old Men” group with his friends, a group that became a special part of his life. Together they would shoot bows, and talk about life, making their moments together filled with laughter and friendship.
Hink had a great love for golf, and he found joy not only in playing the game but also in teaching it to others, appreciating the patience, skill, and focus the sport required.
Among the great joys of Hink’s life were his granddaughters, whom he loved deeply. He especially loved keeping up with their softball games, tuning in to Gamechanger making sure he never missed a single pitch. He was proud to share their accomplishments whether in the classroom, on the field or in life with anyone who would listen.
Hink was unconditionally loving and unapologetically himself at all times with a genuine presence that made others feel comfortable. He never pretended to be anyone other than who he was, a trait that his family and friends greatly admired.
Hink is survived by a son, Randy L. Hinkelman (Jennifer), of MD; two granddaughters, Caroline Lindzee and Caitlin Nicole Hinkelman; as well as multiple extended family members.
A Celebration of Hink’s life will be held privately at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, Hink’s family would like memorial donations in his name sent to the JMU Archery Alumni Association, 225 Weavers Road, Rockingham, VA 22802.
