Robert Garman Obituary

Robert L. Garman, 73, affectionately known as Bob to his friends and family, passed away on Wednesday, February 12, 2025, at UPMC Williamsport.  Bob's life was a testament to his enduring faith, dedication to his craft, and the warmth of his personality.

Born on September 14, 1951, in Williamsport he was a son of the late Richard L. Sr. and Mildred (Swartz) Garman and brother to Julia and Richard.

Bob's journey began at the Milton Hershey School, where he laid the foundation for his future. Living by the 23rd Psalm, Bob believed that God had been with him every step of his life. His spiritual journey took a significant turn at the age of 21 when he truly discovered the Lord and allowed Him to guide his path. A devoted Brother in Christ, Bob was a member of the Lycoming Valley Baptist Church. Bob's faith was put into action through his volunteer work. He used his machinist skills to build medical centers out of cargo containers for third-world countries, contributing his expertise in wiring and building. His volunteer work was an embodiment of his belief in service and his love for helping those in need.

His career was as diverse as it was impressive, starting at Villa Knitting, he then took his talents to Bethlehem Steel, where, he pursued his machinist certifications. His skills were further honed at Quick Release Pins and Sprout Bower, before returning to Bethlehem Steel, later known as Bethlehem Wire Rope, from where he ultimately retired. Known for his precision and meticulous approach, he was a man who was not afraid to tackle any job. His colleagues respected him for his willingness to ask for help and his constant pursuit of knowledge. Bob's commitment to his work was paralleled only by his dedication to his faith. His laughter, his thoughtful conversations, and his ability to listen made him a beloved figure to his family and friends.

Bob married the love of his life, Donna B. (Krawczyk) Garman, on July 2, 1977. They shared 47 years of a loving and devoted marriage before his passing. United in their faith, they raised two cherished sons, Timothy David Garman (Nicole) of Montoursville and Jonathan James Garman (Stephanie) of Milton and were blessed to have seven beloved grandchildren, Matthew (Chanda), Ashleigh (Nate), Jacob, Grant, Catherine, Lincoln, and Isabelle.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Richard Garman Jr.
