Robert H. “Bob” Murphy, 82, of Williamsport, died peacefully June 22, 2019, at his home. He is survived by his loving wife of 25 years, Dorothy M. (Weaver) Murphy.
Born September 14, 1936, in Allenwood, he was a son of the late Robert A. and Kathryn (Shriner) Murphy.
Bob was a graduate of Williamsport High School. After graduating, he proudly served his country in the United States Army. Bob began and ended his working career at Alcan Cable as a truck driver, then as a strander. He attended Lycoming Presbyterian Church and was a member of the American Legion Post 617. Bob’s passion was collecting and completing puzzles.
Surviving in addition to his wife are; two sons, Jeffrey Murphy (Sabrina) of Rocklin, CA, Steven Murphy (Jen) of San Diego, CA; two daughters, Deborah Murphy (Robert) of Dallas, TX, Susan Murphy-Lawrie (Christophe) of Pine, CO; a step-son Jacob Keller (Sue) of Shenandoah; six grandchildren, Noal, Daniel, Chandra, Iain, Joshua, Tyler (Ashleigh); a brother, Paul A. Murphy of Springfield Missouri; and a beloved dog Muffin.
In addition to his parents, Bob is preceded in death by his first wife, Shirley (Haas) Murphy, and a brother Raymond.
A funeral service to honor the life of Bob will be held 11 a.m. Thursday June 27, 2019 at Sanders Mortuary, 821 Diamond St. Williamsport. Burial will follow in Green Lawn Memorial Park, Montgomery. A viewing will be held Thursday from 10 a.m. until the time of service at Sanders.
Flowers will be provided by the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Bob’s name to a charity of one’s choice.
