Paul Bilbay Obituary

Paul Richard Bilbay, known affectionately as Paul to his friends and family, passed away peacefully of natural causes on October 14, 2024, in Williamsport, PA. Born on the 4th of July in 1972 in Jamestown, NY, Paul's life was a vibrant celebration of independence, joy, and love that touched everyone he knew.

Paul's early life was the foundation of his strong character. After graduating from Williamsport Area High School in 1990, he pursued his interest in mechanical drafting at Pennsylvania College of Technology. Paul had a fulfilling career at Stroehmann Bakeries, where he dedicated nearly two decades of service. Paul's commitment to his work was paralleled only by his devotion to his family and his passion for the great outdoors.

He is survived by his beloved wife and partner of 25 years, Rita Whittington Bilbay, who was the love of his life and his steadfast partner in all of life's adventures. Paul raised two remarkable sons, Tarrance, 35, and Isaiah, 34, who will carry on their father's legacy of love and laughter. Paul also leaves behind his older brother, John Bilbay, who was not just a brother but a lifelong friend.

Those who knew Paul understood that his love for his family was the cornerstone of his existence. He was a loving husband and a father who instilled in his sons the values of integrity, humor, and adventure. Beyond his family, Paul had a contagious enthusiasm for life's simple pleasures. He was an avid outdoorsman who found solace in hiking through the serene landscapes and swimming in the clear waters that he so cherished.

Paul's interests extended to various realms of culture and entertainment. He was an ardent fan of J.R.R. Tolkien, with "The Hobbit" being a particular favorite that he read multiple times over the years. His love for epic tales was also reflected in his enjoyment of the television series "Game of Thrones." A true New Yorker at heart, Paul's loyalty to the New York Giants, Mets, and Knicks was unwavering, and game days were always a special occasion in the Bilbay household.

Described by those who knew him as loving, funny, and adventurous, Paul left an indelible mark on the world with his quick wit and his readiness to embark on a new journey, whether it was a spontaneous road trip or a well-planned family vacation.

As we reflect on Paul's life, we are reminded of the words of Helen Keller: "What we have once enjoyed we can never lose; all that we love deeply becomes a part of us." Paul's spirit, his infectious laugh, and the profound love he had for his family and friends have become a part of us all.
