Born April 17, 1927 in Montgomery, she is a daughter of the late Leamon and Mabel (O’Dell) Nuss.

Norma was an avid Scrabble player, often challenging her family and friends to intense games that showcased her impressive vocabulary. She also enjoyed playing cards and was known for her competitive spirit and friendly banter during games with her loved ones. In her younger years, Norma enjoyed bowling and traveling and was fortunate to explore many destinations with her husband and family. In her days of late, you could find her enjoying the wildlife in her backyard, watching the birds and feeding the deer.

Surviving are six children, Elery "Rusty" Richie Jr. (Alice) of Hartsville, South Carolina, Thomas Richie (Ruth) of Essex, Maryland, Gary Richie of Pensacola, Florida, Jeanne Smith of Williamsport, Carol Houseknecht (John) of Montoursville, and Margaret "Peggy" Stabley of DuBoistown; 17 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren; a sister Fay Patterson (Rick) of Florida and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.
