Murl L. Scouten, Sr.

Murl L. Scouten, Sr., 73, of Williamsport passed away Saturday, May 3, 2025 at home.

Born January 24, 1952 in Blossburg he was a son of the late Murl C. and Catherine M. (Greenwalt) Scouten.

Murl graduated from Liberty High School and attended W.A.C.C.  He proudly served his country in the United States Army. On July 7, 1973, he married the love of his life, Diane M. (Hughes) Scouten and together they shared 52 years of love before his passing. He found joy in the simple pleasures of life, especially the hope and excitement of a lottery ticket.

Surviving in addition to his wife are their three sons, Murl L. Scouten, Jr. (Melissa), of Elkland, Donald S. Scouten (Amy) of Williamsport, and Matthew J. Scouten of South Williamsport; five grandchildren, Cher Small, Kayla Small, Blake Scouten, Bradley Scouten, and Owen Scouten; five great-grandchildren, Adriana, Areyna, Thaddeus, Michael, and Kayson; and his sisters, Penelope Bender (Edward) and Vicky Masters (Mark).

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, June Reeder.

A funeral service to honor Murl’s life will be held 1 p.m., Friday, May 9 at Sanders Mortuary, 821 Diamond Street, Williamsport. Burial will follow in Wildwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends from noon until the time of service Friday at Sanders.
