Michael N. Rachael, 77, of Nisbet, passed away on Wednesday, April 8, 2026 at his home, surrounded by his loving family.

He married his high school sweetheart, Kathy J. Crofutt, and together they shared 58 years of marriage.

Born September 28, 1948 in Williamsport, Mike was the son of the late Nicholas and Barbara (Steinbacher) Rachael.

He was a 1966 graduate of South Williamsport High School.

Mike spent much of his career as a pressman for the Sun-Gazette before working for over 10 years at the UPMC Cancer Center, where he transported patients to and from chemotherapy treatments; a role he found deeply meaningful. In retirement, he worked part-time for the South Williamsport Area School District, transporting students to the Career and Technical Center.

Family meant everything to Mike and there wasn’t anything he wouldn’t do for his girls. He was deeply devoted to his granddaughters and whenever they had an event or activity, their “Pap” was there.

Mike was a sports enthusiast and a dedicated Philadelphia Eagles, Phillies and Williamsport Crosscutters fan. His love for his teams became the foundation for many cherished family memories and lives on as part of the lasting legacy he leaves behind.

In addition to his wife, Kathy Rachael, Mike is survived by his daughters, Michele Jackson (Orey) of Williamsport and Melinda Tripoli of Hughesville; four granddaughters, Jillian Ruiz (Justin), Jennifer Evans (Derrick), Emily and Abigail Tripoli; and one great grandson, Felix Ruiz. He is also survived by his brothers, Thomas Rachael of Muncy and Mark Rachael (Margaret) of Nisbet; and sisters, Barb Chapman (Bill) of Montoursville, Ann Waring (Rob) of South Williamsport, and Marylou Burns of Williamsport.

He was also preceded in death by his brother, Nicholas Rachael; and sisters, Linda Berninger and Theresa Dean.

A service to honor the life of Mike will be held at 11 am on Friday, April 17, 2026 at Sanders Mortuary, 821 Diamond Street, Williamsport, where his family will receive guests from 10 am until the time of the service.
