Michael Charles "Mike" McDermott

Michael Charles “Mike” McDermott, 63, of Cogan House Pennsylvania passed peacefully in his home Monday, September 16, 2024.

Born June 27, 1961, in Williamsport, he was a son of John M. McDermott of Williamsport and the late Jean L. (Killing) McDermott.

A 1979 graduate from Williamsport Area High School. Known by many as “Biff”. He married his wife, Michele McDermott in 2009. Mike was an outdoorsman and avid hunter. He loved taking his children and grandchildren hunting and would always let them shoot first. If Mike was not working or spending time with family, he was in the woods.

 Mike could often be found in his recliner, watching NCIS with his best friend, his silver lab Bow. Mike worked as a Tool and Die Maker, tradesman and instructor at Pennsylvania College of Technology. He was an active supporter of the Trout Run Volunteer Fire Company, as his wife is a volunteer and member. Mike fought and won a recent six-year battle with esophageal cancer.

Surviving in addition to his father are his loving wife, Michele; his children, Staci Jelliff (Ernest), Kris McDermott (Krista Biggans), James Hubert (Tiffany), Collan McDermott (Julie Phillips), Michael Hubert, and Zoie McDermott (Klayton Roupp); five grandchildren, Ethan Jelliff, Coleman Jelliff (Abbye Cavanaugh), Hope Smith, Lily Smith, Josephine Adams and Madalynn McDermott; and four siblings, John McDermott (Cindy), Mary Ann Johnson (Steve), Kenneth McDermott (Diane), and Lori Rhone (Brad); and numerous nieces and nephews.

Predeceased by his loving mother, Jean McDermott.

Per his wishes, no services will be held, however, in lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made in his name to the Trout Run Volunteer Fire Company, 241 State Route 14, Trout Run, PA 17771.
