MaryJo Kita, 59, of Williamsport, passed away Thursday, October 26, 2023 at UPMC Williamsport.
Born August 15, 1964, in Williamsport, she was a daughter of the late Joseph and Pauline (Dame) Kita.
MaryJo was a graduate of St. John Neumann and went on to earn a nursing degree from Lycoming College and the Pennsylvania College of Technology. She was a proud registered nurse for over 35 years, working at Williamsport South Rehabilitation and Nursing Center. Her patients were fortunate enough to experience her warmth and kindness and her commitment to their well-being was unwavering. She always went the extra mile to make her patients feel special.
MaryJo also loved to joke around with friends and family and had an infectious laugh and spirit. She was happy when she went on long car rides and enjoyed the little things in life, like looking at the leaves in the fall. She was also a devout Catholic and member of St. Joseph the Worker Parish.
Above all else, MaryJo loved her family. She was proud to be called “DD” by her grandkids and was always ready to take them on another adventure, even when she was working third shift. Trips to the park and McDonalds are some of the memories they will cherish forever.
MaryJo is survived by two daughters, Miranda L. Foulkrod (Jason Matthews) and Ashley Fox (Jason); four grandchildren, Alayna, JJ, Mia, and Allyson; a brother, Stephen (Tiffany); a sister Kim (Steve); an uncle, James (Jeanette); numerous nieces and nephews; and a lifelong friend, Mike Foulkrod.
A memorial service to honor MaryJo’s life will be held 4 pm, Thursday, November 2 at Sanders Mortuary, 821 Diamond St., Williamsport. The family will receive friends from 3 pm until the time of service on Thursday at Sanders. Burial will be held privately.
