Mary Edith (Cohick) Szuhaj, 80, of Williamsport passed away Thursday, June 13, 2024 at home surrounded by family.
Born November 22, 1943 in Williamsport she was a daughter of the late Carl L. Sr., and Beatrice L. (Mulberger) Cohick.
Mary was a 1961 graduate of Williamsport High School. She retired in 2018 from Woodlands Bank as a mortgage underwriter. Mary was a faithful member of St. Paul Calvary United Methodist Church, where she was actively involved with volunteer work.
Mary's life was a testament to her loving nature and her ability to make everyone feel welcomed and cherished. Her daily ritual of savoring a cup of coffee from McDonald's was just one of the simple joys she relished in her well-lived life. The doors to Mary's home were always open, a welcoming haven where everyone was treated like family. She loved cooking and baking and would often fill her home with cookies, pies, breads and sweets for any and all visitors. Her home was a sanctuary of love, laughter, and acceptance, where no one was a stranger and everyone left feeling better for having been there. She lived passionately for her children, but it was her grandchildren and great-grandchildren who truly lit up her world. Her pride in their achievements and milestones was evident to all who knew her.
Surviving are her daughters, Janice Lynn Rahr (William) of Wellsville, OH, Christine K. Broscious (Greg) of Williamsport, Nadia J. Hall (Greg) of Middleburg, and Michelle C. Szuhaj; her grandchildren, Devin Weaver, Corine McKinney (Sarah), Rashelle Clark (Brian), Jeremy Farrar, Crystal Rice (Joshua), Sierra Szuhaj, Nastassja Hall, and Ian Hall; 10 great-grandchildren; her siblings, Carol Steele, Carl Cohick Jr. (Jeannine) and S. Jean Cohick; and a large extended family.
The family will hold a memorial service to honor Mary’s life at Noon Saturday, July 6 at St. Paul Calvary United Methodist Church, 1427 Memorial Ave. Williamsport with Rev. Ann Runnels, officiating. The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until the time of service Saturday at church.
