Mary M. Gunns, 86, formerly of Williamsport, passed away peacefully March 25, 2025 at Viva Senior Living Facility in Berryville, Virginia. She has now been reunited with her late husband of 51 years, Robert F. Gunns, who passed away, November 23, 2013.
Born January 20, 1939, she was a daughter of the late Edward and Margaret (Lorenz) Badman.
Mary was a 1956 graduate of St. Joe High School. After winning a sewing machine, Mary found her passion and she spent her professional career as a cherished seamstress whose skillful hands lovingly stitched together not just fabric but the very community of Williamsport. She was a master of her craft, sewing for policemen, weddings, and even patches for the Canadian Ice Team. Mary would often joke that her sewing was what held the city of Williamsport together.
She found great pleasure in travelling, with Canada and New York State being her favorite destinations. Her love for life was contagious, and she expressed it beautifully through her passion for singing and dancing and some of her favorite bands were The Sanddusters and the Johnny Nicholosi Band. She also enjoyed the company of her Scottish Terriers.
Mary is survived by two children, Robert F. Gunns, II (Darlene) of Charles Town, WV; Jennifer Gunns (Steve Osterfoss) of Littleton, CO, and daughter-in-law, Wendy Gunns. Grandchildren, Ryan Gunns, Rochelle Probst (John); Kevin Milstead, Kourtney Lavely, and Heather Bacon; and many loving great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and her husband, she was predeceased by a son, Paul E. Gunns and a brother, Joseph Badman.
A Mass of Christian Burial will take place Tuesday, April 1, 2025 at St. Joseph the Worker Parish. Burial will follow in Resurrection Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., on Monday, March 31 at Sanders Mortuary, 821 Diamond St., Williamsport.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Mary’s name to St. Joseph the Worker Parish, 711 W Edwin St., Williamsport, PA 17701.
