Marijo Heffner Obituary

Marijo Heffner, aged 71, passed away peacefully on October 28, 2024, surrounded by the love of her devoted family.

Her journey began on June 9, 1953, as the beloved daughter of Clifford "Pep", Sr. and Alice Marie (Bower) Martin, both of whom preceded her in death. Her life was a testament to love and commitment, beautifully exemplified by her 44-year marriage to Dr. Steven L. Heffner, her steadfast partner.

Later in life, Marijo earned her bachelor's degree from Grand Canyon University and her master's degree in theology from Loyola University. Her passion for helping others led her to a fulfilling career as a hospital chaplain, where she served with compassion at Geisinger, John Hopkins, and most recently at Evangelical Community Hospital in Lewisburg.

Family was the cornerstone of Marijo's life. She was a nurturing mother to her two sons, Steven Heffner, Jr. (Kristin) of Garnet Valley and Marty Heffner (Simone Larson) of Evanston, IL. Her four grandchildren, Rylee, Rebekah, Eli, and Loie, were the light of her life, and she cherished every moment spent with them. Marijo's family circle included her loving siblings, Cynthia Leber (Dr. Paul), Patricia Brelsford (Tom), and Clifford "Pep" Martin, Jr. (Joan), as well as numerous nieces and nephews who will remember her fondly.

She relished in the pleasures of life, such as crafting with her grandkids, and enjoying shopping trips and birthday dinners with her sisters. Marijo was known for her impeccable style and great fashion sense. She found peace and relaxation poolside in her backyard, basking in the sun's warm embrace.

She had a fondness for horses and an unparalleled ability to light up any room she entered. Her generosity knew no bounds, and she was always authentically herself. Her loyalty was unwavering, and her spirit was infectious. Those who knew Marijo will remember her as a loving, passionate, and generous soul who lived her life with grace and purpose.
