Marie Annette Welter, 62, of Duboistown, passed away unexpectedly Wednesday, October 15, 2025.

Born March 25, 1963 in Williamsport she was a daughter of the late Karl D. Fazler and Martha M. (Wurster) Fazler.

Marie graduated from Jersey Shore Area High School with the Class of 1981 and went on to earn her associate’s degree in accounting from Williamsport Area Community College. She began her career at John Wolfe and Associates, where she worked for 13 years before joining the Williamsport Area School District, dedicating more than 30 years of service.

Marie was an active member of Messiah Lutheran Church, where her faith shone into the many activities she was a part of.  A proud member of the Nittany Lion Club and lifelong Penn State football enthusiast, she cherished every game day, especially tailgating with family and friends. As a season ticket holder, Marie proudly held what she considered the best seat in the house, directly above the student section, where her energy and team spirit shone as bright as the blue and white.

On July 25, 1994, Marie married the love of her life, Robert T. Welter. For over 31 years, they shared a bond built on laughter, faith, and unwavering devotion. Robert was her soulmate, and she was his rock through every season of life. She had a heart of gold, a hint of stubbornness, and an unwavering devotion to her children, Zachary and Olivia, whom she considered her greatest accomplishment. Watching them grow and achieve their dreams brought her endless joy. Those who knew Marie will remember her as strong, selfless, and steadfast, the true backbone of her family. She found her greatest joy in simply being surrounded by the people she loved. To Marie, her family were friends, too, and she treated them as such. Whether it was a holiday gathering, a backyard get-together, or a Penn State game day, she cherished every laugh, every story, and every shared moment. Her home and her heart were always open, and she was happiest when it was filled with those she loved most.

Marie loved to sing, had an infectious laugh that could fill a room, and found comfort in the companionship of her beloved Pitbulls, Natalie, who passed away last year and now greets her in heaven, and Bella, who remains with her family to carry on her love.

Her strength, laughter, and boundless love will be deeply missed but forever remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Surviving is her husband, Robert T. Welter and their two children, Zachary John Welter of Enola and Olivia Mae Welter of Williamsport; her siblings, Renee VonStein of Montoursville, Timothy Fazler of Montgomery, Glen Fazler of Linden, and Julie Bubb (Cory) of Lamar; her step-mother, Ann Fazler of Linden; mother-in-law, Wahneeta Welter of Williamsport; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was very fond of her sister and brother-in-law, Krista “Sis” and Vince Fagnano who she loved dearly.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her father-in-law, William Welter.

A funeral service to honor Marie’s life will be held 10 a.m., Wednesday, October 22 at Messiah Lutheran Church, 324 South Howard Street, South Williamsport, PA 17702. Burial will follow in Montoursville. The family will receive friends from 5 -7 p.m. Tuesday, at Messiah Lutheran Church.
