Margaret A. “Peggy” Beck, 72, of South Williamsport passed away surrounded by family Friday, January 19, 2024 at UPMC Williamsport. She was greeted at heavens gates by her loving husband of 48 years, James L. “Jim” Beck who preceded her in death on September 17, 2018.
Born February 27, 1951 in York, she was a daughter of the late Lawrence L. “Bud” and H. Patricia (Aldinger) Holt.
Peggy was a 1969 graduate of Williamsport Area High School. She and her husband owned and operated Roto-Rooter Plumbing and Drain Services for 33 years before retiring. She was a woman who wouldn’t hold back and her opinions were delivered with a clarity that left no room for doubt. Yet, it was her warm-hearted approach to life that drew people to her, creating lifelong friendships and a community that cherished her presence. Her selfless nature was evident in how she would do anything for anyone, a quality that endeared her to all who knew her.
She was the epitome of what it means to be loving and funny, effortlessly brightening the days of those around her. Peggy found joy in the simple pleasures of life, like the thrill of a good game at the casino, specifically Black Jack or Roulette or the contentment of watching an episode of Golden Girls, Dr. Phil, Wheel of Fortune, or Jeopardy. She loved all animals. However, nothing compared to the time spent with her beloved children and grandchildren. Being a "Nonnie" was Peggy's most treasured role and she embraced it with every fiber of her being. Playing Monopoly with them was more than a game; it was an opportunity to pass on lessons of strategy, patience, and, most importantly, fun memories shared with Nonnie.
Surviving are two children; Carrie L. Evelhair (William B.) of South Williamsport and James L. “Jimmy” Beck, Jr. (Kristin L.) of Williamsport; 5 grandchildren, Chase Waller, Hailey, Kylie, Braden and Brenna Beck; and two sisters, Tricia J. Williamson (Gary) and Nancy A. Chapman (David).
Private burial in Green Lawn Memorial Park, Montgomery will be held at the convenience of the family.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in Peggy’s name to the Children’s Development Center 625 West Edwin St., Williamsport, PA 17701 or Special Olympics of Lycoming County c/o Marc Follmer PO Box 1891 Williamsport, PA 17703.
