Louise Portanova Obituary

Louise M. Portanova, 92, of Williamsport passed away Friday, February 2, 2024 surrounded by family.

Born January 24, 1932 in Williamsport, she was a daughter of the late Nicola and Marian (Staccone) Cipriani.

She married her loving husband, Vito J. “Chickie” Portanova, and together they shared 46 years before his passing on November 28, 1997.

Throughout her life, Louise dedicated herself to creating a welcoming home, filled with love and her warm, infectious laughter. Mimi Weezie’s home was a place of refuge, where everybody was welcomed and nobody ever left hungry. Weekly spaghetti nights were a cherished tradition, where everyone gathered to enjoy her delicious cooking (Ravs) and the love of family.

Louise was the kindest soul one could ever hope to meet, always placing the needs of others before her own. She never complained, no matter the circumstance, and her resilience was as much a part of her as her kind-hearted nature. Her family was her pride and joy, and she relished any opportunity to share stories about her loved ones with anyone who would listen. Weezie shared a very special bond with her niece, Holly. She spent many nights at Holly’s house watching movies and enjoying a glass of wine.

She was a member of St. Joseph the Worker Parish. Louise enjoyed playing cards and watching Judge Judy. She frequented the casino and loved spending time in Penny Grove, enjoying many day trips with her sister, Helen, before her passing.

Her grandchildren were the light of her life, and she showered them with love and attention, always eager to hear about their adventures and achievements. With her great-granddaughter, Sienna, she discovered the joy of Door-Dashing, a delightful Friday treat that they both loved.

Surviving is her daughter, Diane Flexer (Daniel) of Williamsport; seven grandchildren, Denny Williams (Candi), Terra Sechrist (Marc), Christina Frame (Brian), Jenna Laubach, Beth Miller (Marc), Dawn Flexer, and Danny Flexer, III, and; 14 great-grandchildren, Autumn, Adriana, Isabella, Cody, Sienna, Lillianna, Cooper, Chloe, Matt, Wyatt, Morgan, Alivia, Riley, and Micro Dan; three great-great grandchildren, Carter, Scarlett and Waylen; her brother, Anthony Cipriani of Williamsport; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by her son, Thomas C. Portanova and his wife, Rhonda; two great-grandchildren, Brayden and Abigail; and six siblings, Richard Cipriani, Sr., Joe Cipriani Sr., Elvira Portanova, Florence Girio, Nickolas Cipriani, Sr., and Helen C. Scoppa.
