Louis Staccone Obituary

Louis M. "Lou" Staccone, 87, of Williamsport, passed away surrounded by family Tuesday, February 11, 2020 at his home. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 61 years, Eleanor O. (Bozar) Staccone on November 11, 2016.


Born February 17, 1932, in Williamsport, he was a son of the late Lavinio and Phyllis (Natale) Staccone.


Lou attended Williamsport High School and served his country proudly in the U.S. Air Force. He was the Staff Sergeant of the Air Force Police Town Patrol in Fukuko Japan during the Korean War. He returned to his job at A&P Tea Company, which he left to serve in the military, and after 47 years of service retired as the co-manager of the Hughesville location. After retiring, Lou enjoyed the company of his dogs, Harley, and Morgan, who both made life a treat for him.


He was of the Catholic faith. Lou was a lifetime member of the VFW Post 7863. He enjoyed traveling with his wife to military reunions in Hawaii, Las Vegas and West Virginia, totaling 13 reunions in all. Lou also took great delight in giving to others and various charities. He was a talented woodworker, and could often be found playing computer games.Lou was a family man and could charm anyone with his charismatic personality and quick wit. He certainly could make you smile and he will be forever missed by his family and friends.


Surviving are a daughter, Rose M. Cohick (Wayne), of Jersey Shore; a son, Louis M. Staccone II (Ann-Marie Brown), of Williamsport; two sisters, Theresa Girio, of Lewisburg, and Mary Ann Cowden (Norm), of Duboistown; three grandchildren, Travis Cohick, of Lock Haven, Tanya Hufnagle (Jim), of Antes Fort, and Michael Cohick (Chelsea), of Jersey Shore; seven great-grandchildren, James, Patrick, Andrew, Belle, Clayton, Gio and Farrah; several nieces and nephews; and the beloved family dogs.


In addition to his wife Lou was preceded in death by two brothers, Anthony E. and Michael Staccone, and two sisters, Louise G. Ricci, and AnnaMarie Staccone.


A viewing will be held from noon until 1 p.m. on Friday, February 14, at Sanders Mortuary, 821 Diamond St., Williamsport with a funeral service to honor the life of Lou to begin at 1 p.m. on Friday at Sanders. Burial will follow in Wildwood Cemetery with military honors by the Korean War Veterans of Lycoming County.
