Louis Robbins, Jr. Obituary

Louis E. Robbins, Jr., 93, of Williamsport, passed away peacefully with family by his side Monday, August 12, 2024 at UPMC Susquehanna. Surviving is his loving wife Jean (Webster) Robbins whom he would have celebrated 70 years of marriage with on Dec. 28th.

Born February 12, 1931 in Muncy, he was a son of the late Louis E., Sr. and Thelma (Stiger) Robbins.

Lou graduated from Hughesville High School Class of 1950 and went on to serve his country proudly in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. He retired in 1994 from High Steel.

An avid craftsman, Lou found solace and joy in woodworking and handy work. His hands were rarely still, always busy creating, fixing, or improving something. He had a special knack for building bridges as well as Victorian dollhouses.  Lou's adventurous spirit was matched by his kind nature as his dedication to helping others was most evident in his two decades of volunteer work at Williamsport Hospital. Lou approached life with a sense of wonder and excitement. His laughter was infectious, and his ability to find humor in all things was one of his most beloved traits. He often reminded those around him that "a smile looks good on you!"

Surviving in addition to his wife are three children, Lujean Lallemand of Altoona, Mark Robbins (Beth), of State College, and Craig Robbins (Deborah), of Hughesville; 11 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; a daughter-in-law Leona Robbins; Yuri Shalkowski (Jim) and her two children who were like family; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Lou was preceded in death by a son, Scott Robbins and a sister, Donna Hillner.

A graveside service to honor the life of Lou will be held 10 a.m., Wednesday, August 28th, at Twin Hills Memorial Park, 5946 Lycoming Mall Dr., Muncy.
