Larry A. Bastian, 70, of South Williamsport, passed away Saturday, December 6, 2025 after a courageous, hard-fought battle with cancer, meeting it with the same strength, faith, and Fighting Irish spirit that defined his life.
Born January 2, 1955 in Jersey Shore, he was a son of the late Charles Ramon and Lorraine (Liddic) Bastian. Larry graduated from South Williamsport High School in 1973. He proudly served his community as a sergeant with the Williamsport Police Department, retiring in 2005 after 21 years of dedicated and honorable service to the force.
Larry found joy in many things throughout his life, especially the outdoors, where he loved to hunt and appreciate the quiet of nature. He had a deep passion for all sports and was a dedicated coach, but nothing compared to his loyalty to Notre Dame football, he was a proud and enthusiastic Irish fan through and through. Above all else, Larry treasured his family. His wife, children, and grandchildren were the center of his world, and every moment spent with them brought him immense joy.
Surviving is his loving wife of 33 years, Mary A. (Eveleth) Bastian; four children, Michelle Miller (Jody) of Williamsport, Rick Bastian (Keeley) of New Jersey, Ryan Bastian (Jamie) of Myrtle Beach, and Lindsay Bastian of South Williamsport; his beloved grandchildren, Braydon, Chase, Marissa, Hailey, Caysen, Bella, and Teddy; siblings, Charlie Bastian (Pam) of Greenville, Terry Bastian (Sue) of South Williamsport, Ron Bastian of Trout Run, Vicki Eggler (Tim) of Mill Hall, and Gary Bastian of South Williamsport; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A funeral service to honor Larry’s life will be held 12:30 p.m., Friday, December 12, at Sanders Mortuary, 821 Diamond Street, Williamsport. Burial will follow in Wildwood Cemetery.
