Kathryne (Kaye) S. Fetherolf, 92, formerly of Mohnton, PA, Avalon, NJ, East Braintree, VT and Medford, NJ, passed away Monday October 7, 2024 at Valley View Nursing Center, Montoursville, PA.
She was born on January, 16 1932 in Philadelphia, PA, youngest daughter of the late William and Kathryne (Gammons) Schleyer. She was pre-deceased by her husband, William J. Fetherolf.
Kathryne attended Drexel Institute of Technology where she received a BS in Home Economics. She was on the All-American Hockey team, as well as tennis, swimming, basketball and gymnastic teams. Later she received two Masters degrees in Education from Glassboro State College.
Kathryne began her teaching career at Plymouth Whitemarsh HS and later taught 3rd grade, remedial reading and the gifted program, at Neeta Elementary School, Medford Lakes, NJ.
Kaye loved life and her interests and achievements were many and varied, including; world travel, gardening, Girl Scout troop leader, member of the Embroiders Guild of America, avid quilter, volunteer in the Raggedy Ann/Andy program at Reading Hospital, as well as rescuing dozens of animals. Kaye portrayed several historical women in the Famous Ladies Teas, sponsored by the Berks County, PA chapter of the DAR.
During Kaye’s twenty-plus years in Vermont she ran a 325 acre farm/bed & breakfast, was a church organist, enjoyed horse carriage driving competitions, was an inventory manager at a local hardware store, and spent one year in the Peace Corp, in the Philippines.
Surviving are her daughters; Kathryne B. Fetherolf, widow of Joseph Pullano, Susan Hamilton, wife of Jeffrey Hamilton and Karen Fetherolf, wife of BJ Flater. Five grandchildren; William Hamilton, James Dry, George Hamilton, Kimberly Hamilton and Glen Hamilton. Five great-grandchildren; Sydney Hewitt, Orion Hamilton, Mason Dry, Ruth Hamilton and Austin Dry.
A celebration of life will be announced at a later date.
