Karen R. Knaur, 64, a beacon of love and selflessness, passed away Wednesday, December 6, 2023 after a brave fight with cancer, leaving a legacy of care and compassion that touched the lives of all who knew her. Surviving is her loving husband, Christian S. Knaur whom she celebrated her 43rd Wedding Anniversary with on November 7, 2023.
Born on December 18, 1958 in Painted Post, NY she was a daughter of the late Edward G. Nolan Sr. and Anna Mae (Bohr) Nolan of Williamsport.
Karen was born to a life of service. She graduated from Williamsport High School in 1976 and followed her calling to nurture others at the Robert Packer School of Nursing in Sayre, PA, graduating in 1979.
For 37 years, she was a dedicated Registered Nurse at Divine Providence Hospital, where her extraordinary skills and unwavering dedication made her an amazing nurse and a wonderful caregiver. Karen's professional life was marked not only by her exceptional ability to heal but also by her innate capacity to bring comfort and joy to her patients and their families. Even after retirement, her nurturing spirit never waned, and she continued to be the nurse everyone needed, especially her family, always asking, "When can I be there?" rather than "What can I do?"
Karen's love for life was as immense as her caring heart. She embraced her Irish heritage with pride and joy. She had the biggest laugh which was often infectious, a sound that encapsulated her always happy and outgoing nature. Karen was the epitome of faithfulness and never wavered from her faith and attended St. Luke Lutheran Church. She loved her fur babies, was a talented seamstress, enjoyed crocheting, decorating for all holidays, and spending weekends with her sisters and mother at the Shamokin house. Karen truly loved spending time surrounded by those she loved. Above all, Karen cherished the time spent with her granddaughter, Raven.
Surviving in addition to her husband and mother are two children, Keenan P. Knaur of Williamsport and Laura M. Williams (Rusty) of Muncy; a beloved granddaughter, Raven A. Williams; her siblings, Jami Nolan (Betsy) of Montoursville, Melanie Bassett (Timothy) of Harrisburg, Teresa Engel (Robert) of Williamsport, Matthew Nolan, of Williamsport, Mark Nolan of Akron, OH, and Michael Nolan of South Williamsport; and several nieces and nephews.
