Judith Hawkins Obituary

Judith Ann (Kiess) Hawkins, 81, of Montoursville, passed away Friday, July 24, 2026 at the Gatehouse.

Born July 7, 1945 in Jersey Shore she was a daughter of the late Winfield Lewis and Dorothy Gladys (Williams) Kiess.

Judith's life was a reflection of her unwavering faith and compassionate heart. For more than 20 years, she dedicated herself to serving families as a social worker with the Lycoming and Clinton County Children and Youth Services, where she tirelessly advocated for the well-being of children and offered hope during difficult times.

Her desire to care for others extended far beyond her profession. Judith faithfully worshiped at Community Baptist Church, where she found strength in her faith and joy in serving alongside her church family. She opened both her heart and her home as a foster parent, providing love, stability, and encouragement to children in need. She was also deeply involved with the GAP Prison Ministry, believing that every person deserved grace, compassion, and the opportunity for a new beginning.

One of Judith's greatest joys was traveling to Africa to visit her son, Brad, and his family as they faithfully served as missionaries. Those trips allowed her not only to spend precious time with her family but also to witness firsthand the work God was doing through their ministry.

Surviving is her husband of 60 years, Jack Hawkins, Jr.; four sons, John S. Hawkins, Lonnie E. Hawkins, Todd E. Hawkins (Susan), and Brad E. Hawkins (Mary); grandchildren, John Jr., Kevin, Garret, Caroline, Drew, Brandon (Brianna), Marissa, and Mya; great-grandchildren, Sarah and Maddy; a sister, Margaret Nagle (Mike) of Greenvalley, AZ; and a niece, Rebekah McGee (Mike) of Vail, AZ.

A memorial service to honor Judith’s life will be held 11 a.m., Thursday, August 6, at Community Baptist Church, 1853 PA-87, Montoursville with a luncheon to follow. The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until the time of service Thursday at church.
