Joyce A. (Kinney) Cole

Joyce A. Cole, 85, of Williamsport, passed away surrounded by family Saturday, January 4, 2020 at UPMC Susquehanna. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 39 years, Ralph M. Cole on March 29, 1991.

     Born August 2, 1934 in Williamsport, she was a daughter of the late Edward L. and Anna May (Anderson) Kinney.

     Joyce was known as “Nanny” to everyone that knew and loved her. She was a strong-willed woman with a feisty personality. Family was everything to her; she loved spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, especially when her granddaughter Isabella would come over and sing to her.  She enjoyed the holidays, her Christmas tree, and shoveling the snow until her son Rick took her shovel away. Nanny also loved to show off her purchases from shopping on QVC.

     Surviving are her eight children; Ann M. Achberger (Curtis) of Montoursville, Ralph M. Cole, Jr. of Williamsport, Sharon R. Jenney of Montgomery, Cindy L. Cole of Williamsport, Rick A. Cole (Donna) of Williamsport, Glen E. Cole (Cheryl) of Montoursville, Keith B. Cole (Stacey) of Loyalsock, and Timothy N. Cole (Judy) of Beavertown; 28 grandchildren; 56 great-grandchildren; and 14 great-great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

     In addition to her parents and husband Nanny was preceded in death by two grandchildren, Scott M. Cole and Samantha J. Cole, a great-great-great-granddaughter Eila E. Umstead; a son-in-law, Norman “Bill” Jenney; three brothers and one sister.

     A funeral service to honor the life of Nanny will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, January 9 at Faxon-Kenmar United Methodist Church, 1301 Clayton Avenue, Williamsport. Burial will follow in Green Lawn Memorial Park, Montgomery. A visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until the time of service on Thursday at Faxon-Kenmar UMC.
