Jon R. Gehr, 88, of Nisbet, passed away Friday, October 18, 2024, at his home while surrounded by family.
Born on December 20, 1935, in Warrensville, he was a son of the late Brady and Eleanor (Dieter) Gehr.
Together he and his wife, Donna (Fuller) Gehr shared 64 years before her passing on November 26, 2021.
Jon was affectionately known as a “Jack of all Trades”. He could do almost anything in construction and even held knowledge in vehicle mechanics. From rebuilding tractors to antiquing, Jon enjoyed tinkering and he was always interested in History. He was never idle and liked flea markets and auctions. Jon was a fan of country music and especially enjoyed listening to Conway Twitty, Charlie Pride, and Johnny Cash.
Surviving are his six children, Diane Daughtery (Lash) of South Williamsport, Wendy Gehr of Williamsport, Jeanette Bower (Doug) of Montoursville, David Gehr of Nisbet, Timothy Gehr of Pennsdale, and Jonathan Gehr of Williamsport; 18 grandchildren, Jason, Christal, Vanessa, Danny “Bud”, Tanya, Bobbie Jo, Matt, Mark, David, Danielle, Tabitha, Anthony, George, Kylie, Scott, Jordyn, Derek, and Lainey; 27 great-grandchildren; five great-great grandchildren; two brothers, Brady Gehr and Joe Gehr; and many loving nieces and nephews.
Along with his parents and wife, Jon was also preceded in death by a son, Johnny Gehr; a great-grandson; two brothers, Richard Gehr and Calvin Gehr; and his sister, Anna Mae Cox.
Memorial donations may be made in Jon’s name to the Susquehanna Health Foundation c/o UPMC Hillman Cancer Center Williamsport, 1001 Grampian Blvd. Williamsport, PA 17701.
Services will be held privately at the convenience of the family.
