James A. Potter, 73, of Linden, died unexpectedly, Tuesday, January 7, 2025 at UPMC Williamsport.
Born April 11, 1951 in Williamsport, he was a son of the late Millard F. Potter, Sr. and Mary L. (Jean) Potter who survives him.
Jim graduated from Williamsport High School in 1969 and earned an associates degree in Electrical Technology from W.A.C.C. He proudly served his country in the United States Army, serving in Germany.
Jim worked at Litton as a Design Engineer and retired from PennDot as a construction inspector after many years. He was a faithful member of Christian Church of Cogan Station, where he served on the mission team, actively participating in many local and foreign mission and relief projects. Jim was a man of tremendous faith and love for his wife and family.
Surviving in addition to his mother is his loving wife of 41 years, Elizabeth (Nelson) Potter; siblings, Christopher L. Potter of Williamsport, Millard F. Potter, Jr., of Linden, and Deborah Montgomery (David) of Wilmington, NC; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, and great-great nieces and nephews.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Lawrence A. Potter and Mark A. Potter; and a nephew, Joshua Potter.
A memorial service to honor James’ life will be held 1 p.m., Saturday, February 8, at Christian Church at Cogan Station, 5904 Lycoming Creek Rd, Cogan Station, PA 17728. The family will receive friends from Noon until the time of service, Saturday at Church.
