James M. Lachat, Sr., 91, of Williamsport, passed away on Thursday, July 16, 2026 at UPMC Williamsport.

Born January 17, 1935, in Lock Haven, he was a son of the late John Leonard and Eve (McClosky) Lachat.

James is a 1953 graduate of Lock Haven High School and was a proud weaver for many years at the former Woolrich Woolen Mills. A man who had a strong work ethic, he finally retired at the age of 62.

In his younger years, James could usually be found casting a fishing pole in the creek or hunting in the woods. As he got older, he enjoyed baking for his family and spending as much time with them as possible. The one constant in his life was his devotion to the Philadelphia Phillies. James made sure he never missed a game and his family hopes that this year will be the year they bring home a win in his honor.

James is survived by three children, James M. Lachat, Jr. (Lory), of Cogan Station, William Lachat (Gretchen), of Jersey Shore, and Deborah Lachat, of Williamsport; four grandchildren, Aaron Lachat, Allison Genard, Rachel DuBois, and Rebecca Blazer; seven great-grandchildren, a brother, Roy Lachat (Nancy), of Salona; as well as numerous extended family members.

In addition to his parents, James was predeceased by a granddaughter, Cara Lachat, and seven siblings, George, John, Robert, Frank, Fred, and Joe Lachat, and Mary Bradley.

A graveside service to honor James’ life will be held 10 a.m., Monday, July 27 at St. Agnes Cemetery, 368 Gillens Road, Mill Hall, PA 17751.
