James Daniel Beaver, 83, of Williamsport passed away Thursday, January 11, 2024 at UPMC Williamsport.
Born September 21, 1940 in Muncy Valley, he was a son of the late Paul D. and Mabel (Edgar) Beaver.
James spent his early years exploring his hometown of Nordmont, graduated from Sullivan County High School, and attended Lycoming College. He proudly served his country as a United States Marine. James was a member of F.& A.M. Lodge #106, Williamsport. After 43 years of employment, he retired from the aviation mechanic inspection department at Textron Lycoming.
James was a humble and soft-spoken individual, whose passion for the simple pleasures of life and the great outdoors was evident to all who knew him. An avid outdoorsman, he found solace and joy in the simplicity of nature. He could often be found taking walks among the trees, foraging for blueberries, fishing, hunting, or taking his gun for a walk through the woods during hunting season.
History was another of James' great passions, having a keen interest in Civil War and Native American history. One of his favorite pursuits was searching for arrowheads in the grounds of Williamsport and the surrounding communities.
Surviving is his wife, Sandra K. (Cambell) Beaver, whom he married August 14, 1999 and together they shared 25 years of love; four step-children, Jody Reynolds (Keith), James Follmer (Tina), Renee Scaife, and David Follmer all of Williamsport; eight grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Paul Beaver (Bonnie) of Laporte and Danny Beaver of Hughesville; his beloved cat, Fluff; and numerous nieces and nephews.
