Jacqueline Stroehmann Obituary

Jacqueline S. Stroehmann, known fondly to friends and family as "Jacki," passed away on Saturday, August 31, 2024 after a courageous battle with glioblastoma brain cancer.  During that difficult time, she was continually surrounded by the love of her family and friends.  Born on May 4, 1956, in Williamsport, PA, Jacki had a youthful spirit and was perhaps best known for her warmth, intelligence, and humor throughout her 68 years of life.

Jacki was the oldest daughter of 6 children born within a span of 9 years to Diane Mellish Stroehmann and Harold J. Stroehmann Jr., and was raised in a very close and loving family.  Jacki had a deep love for nature and a special connection with animals as a child, and began riding horses at an early age.  She carried herself with a natural sense of grace and enjoyed physical activities throughout her life such as cheerleading, ballet dancing, teaching aerobics, and outdoor activities.

A graduate of the University of Texas and Misericordia University, Jacki began her career path in the noble profession of nursing.  As a nurse practitioner, she used her love of wellness and her empathy for others to provide the very best care for her patients.  Her commitment to health and wellness extended well beyond her career. Jacki also lived an active healthy life and dedicated herself to her own vision of success, one that included natural living, cultivating close friendships, and pursuing a healthy lifestyle.  Jacki excelled in everything she pursued.

However, Jacki's true passion was for horses, and she had a deeply intuitive connection with them.  Her goal in life was to become the very best rider and horsewoman she could possibly be.  She found great joy and fulfillment in combining her deep love for horses with the challenges of competitive equestrian sports. And her success in this area of life is a testimony to her strong, graceful, and free spirit.

Jacki was a loving mother who cultivated a close, playful and affectionate relationship with each of her two daughters: Ashley Greninger (who survives her); and Cecile Weigle (who preceded her in death, also due to glioblastoma, just 8 months ago). She instilled in them a free spirit, as well as a clear understanding of the power of kindness and the importance of persistence in achieving goals.

Beyond her immediate family, Jacki also formed very close and loyal bonds of friendship with a wide range of people from different circles of life.  These friendships were precious to her, and were a mutual blessing between her and those she loved so dearly.

Preceded in death by her father Harold J. Stroehmann Jr. of Williamsport, PA (1978); her step father Gregory E. Stanbro of Denver, CO (2000); and her daughter Cecile M. Weigle of Denver, CO (2023), Jacki is survived by her mother, Diane E. (Mellish) Stanbro of Denver, CO; her daughter Ashley B. Greninger of Williamsport, PA; and her 5 brothers and sisters:  H. John Stroehmann III of Miami, FL; Jennifer Stroehmann of Silver City, NM; Jeri Sims of Montoursville, PA; Joy Stroehmann of Walnut Creek, CA; Jeffery Stroehmann (and his wife Kimberly) of Linden, PA.  Also surviving Jacki are her nephew Bailey Sims of Seattle, WA; and her niece Nina Stroehmann of Linden, PA, both of whom held a very special place in her heart.

Jacki's passing leaves a void in many people's hearts and lives. Her adventurous spirit, her kindness to others, her keen sense of humor, and her intelligent perceptiveness will be dearly missed by so many. Yet her spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of those who loved her and whose lives were touched by her.

A celebration of life to honor Jacki will be held on Saturday, October 12, at Sunshine Farm, 508 Sunshine Farm Lane, Cogan Station. In a setting she would have loved, friends and family are invited to gather under a tent in the fresh air, with stories and sharing commencing at 11 AM. This casual outdoor gathering will be a fitting tribute to a life so brightly lived.

Memorial contributions may be made in Jacki’s name to Susquehanna Health Foundation c/o The Gatehouse, 1001 Grampian Blvd. Williamsport, PA 17701.
