Jack Leonard Fry, 80, of Cogan Station, passed away at home surrounded by family, Tuesday, October 17, 2023.
Born May 1, 1943 he was a son of the late Jack L. Fry, KIA in WWII when Jack was 16 months old, and the late Mabel (Mosso) Karbinas and her husband, Joseph. Jack graduated from Williamsport Area High School and later, Williamsport Technical Institute. He said “I do” to the love of his life, Rose “Rosie” (Tressler) Fry, on February 15, 1969, and together they embraced 54 wonderful years of marriage. He was retired after 40 years as an engine assembler at Avco Lycoming (Textron). Jack enjoyed playing baseball and softball, and was an avid hunter and shooter, even handloading his own bullets. He and Rosie enjoyed traveling, having visited 46 states and 10 Canadian Provinces, and he was a fan of Old Westerns tv shows. Above all, Jack loved spending time with his family and grandchildren.
Surviving along with his loving wife, Rosie, are two children, Joanne M. Fritz (Michael), and Jack L. “Bear” Fry, III; four siblings, Cindy Wagner (Rick), Harriett Knoffsinger, Ralph “Skip” Overdurf (Betty), and Robert Karbinas (Waunita); three grandchildren, Tiffany Lusk (Brad), Cody Fritz (Billie), and Colton Fritz, and three great-grandchildren, Brantley Lusk, Lane and Evelyn Fritz. He also leaves behind his friends of over 65 years, Arden Paulhamus, Ronnie Quigel, and Mike Reidy.
Jack was also preceded in death by a brother, Lewis “Terry” Overdurf.
A memorial service to honor Jack’s life will be held 2:30 p.m. Saturday, November 11 at St. Michael Lutheran Church, 1877 St. Michael’s Rd., Cogan Station. Burial will follow in St. Michael’s Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:30 p.m. until the time of service on Saturday at church.
