Harry Haas, III Obituary

Harry H. Haas, III, age 74, of Williamsport, passed away on Wednesday, September 10, 2025 at UPMC Williamsport.

He was the beloved husband of Ruthanne Hollinshead Miller-Haas, with whom he shared 25 years of marriage.

Born and raised in Wilmington, Delaware, Harry was the son of the late Harry H., Jr. and Erma L. (Decorse) Haas. He was a 1969 graduate of Conrad High School.

He proudly served in the Army National Guard, a testament to his dedication to his country and community.

Before his retirement, Harry worked as a Team Coordinator for General Motors out of Wilmington Assembly Plant for over 33 years.

Harry had a deep love for travel, the outdoors, and discovering new places. Over the years, he made his home in several places, including New Brunswick Province of Canada, South Carolina, Oregon, and Pennsylvania.

Harry was a parishioner of Trinity Episcopal Church in Williamsport, where he was an active and dedicated volunteer in their Food Ministry.

A passionate rock music enthusiast, Harry had an impressive knowledge of the genre, especially from the early 1960s through the late 1990s.

He was an avid reader with a lifelong curiosity and thirst for knowledge. He especially enjoyed tackling jigsaw puzzles and delving into the history of World War I and World War II.

While living in Oregon, Harry worked in partnership with the University of Washington to help survey pollution levels along the central Oregon coast. He also underwent training in Tsunami Emergency Management, further reflecting his commitment to community safety and environmental stewardship.

In addition to his wife, Ruthanne, Mr. Haas is survived by his children, Michael N. Haas of Illinois, Brad A. Haas and his wife, Danielle, of Smyrna, Delaware; step-children, Brandon J. Miller of Berlin, Germany and Arielle C. Miller of Alsea, Oregon; brother, Donald W. Haas and his wife, Debra, of Newport, Delaware; sister, Shirley L. Adamovage and her husband, David, of Carlisle; four grandchildren; one great grandchild; three nephews; and one niece.

He was also preceded in death by his former wife, Diane Louise Focht.

Services to honor the life of Harry will be held on Saturday, September 20th with a visitation from 9 to 9:45 am at Trinity Episcopal Church, 844 West Fourth Street, Williamsport, PA 17701, where his funeral service will take place at 10 am. Burial will follow in Wildwood Cemetery.
