Gwendalyn Kilpatrick Obituary

Our little angel gained her wings on Sunday, January 5, 2025. Gwendalyn Sharon Kilpatrick arrived 6 weeks early into this world on October 7, 2024 at UPMC Williamsport after a turbulent beginning.

Shortly after birth, she was air lifted to Geisinger Medical Center's Janet Weis Children's Hospital and was admitted into the NICU. After several weeks of trying to assess her situation, it was determined through genetic testing that she was born with a very, very rare chromosome disorder that Geisinger had never seen before, Triploidy69,XXX. In layman's terms, this means that most of her genetic DNA had a complete extra set of chromosomes throughout her entire little body. Most Triploidy babies are never born and those that are, are either stillborn or die very shortly afterwards. Because Gwendalyn surpassed all expectations of survival for almost 3 months with the large amount of issues associated with the condition, she was a 1:1,000,000 miracle. In her short 90 days here on Earth, she touched 100's of lives & countless medical personnel at both UPMC Williamsport and the JWCH and her journey was followed by many more through her own special social media group.

Gwendalyn is survived by her parents, Julie (Ryder) & Kody Kilpatrick of Montgomery. Her sister Addison Kilpatrick at home. Her maternal grandparents, Melanie (Fife) & Brian Ryder of Montgomery. She is also survived by her paternal grandparents, Crystal (Young) & Kevin Kilpatrick of Montoursville. Her maternal great-grandfather, Joseph Fife of Townville. Her Godmother, Jenna Myers of Sayre and Great Godmother, Amy Myers of Rome. Her uncles, Eric, James & Scott Ryder all of Montgomery. Her aunts Kaycee & Kali Kilpatrick & Kelcee Almarzouqi. She's also survived by many great aunts, great uncles, a treasure-trove of cousins and so many 'bonus' aunts, uncles, grandparents and family.

Gwendalyn is preceded in passing by her maternal great-grandparents, Marie (Walls) & Lawrence Koon & Mary (Schnell-Sullivan) Fife and Elsie Zoe (Metzger) & Raymond Ryder. Along with paternal great-grandparents Sharon (Lehman) & James Young, and Mary (Sullivan) & Lee Kilpatrick.

Services will be held privately at the convenience of the family.
