Gerald G. “Jake” Shipman, Sr., 87, of Loyalsock passed away Thursday, May 9, 2024 at UPMC Williamsport. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 56 years, Constance A. (Bennett) Shipman.
Born September 13, 1936 in South Williamsport he was a son of the late Walter and Dorothy (Gulliver) Shipman.
Jake worked for the Williamsport Sanitary Authority for over 40 years. Throughout life Jake loved taking camping trips with his family and attending country music shows. He and Connie were members of the American Folk Music Association.
Surviving are two sons, Gerald G. “Jake” Shipman, Jr. (Kay) and Gary E. Shipman, all of Loyalsock; two grandchildren, James R. Shipman and Allison N. Shipman; a sister, Ruth Bower of Webster, NY; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Walter, Herb, Betty, Loretta, and Janice.
A graveside service to honor the life of Jake will be held 1:30 p.m. Friday, May 17 at Wildwood Cemetery, 91 Wildwood Blvd., Williamsport, please meet at the cemetery office.
