Elsie M. Apker, 100, of Williamsport, passed away Friday, March 27, 2020, at Aristacare of Loyalsock.
Born May 11, 1919 in Yarnell, she was a daughter of the late Mahlon L. and Ruth Ann (Walker) McCloskey.
Elsie was a member of St. John's-Newberry United Methodist Church. She enjoyed her job at the Williamsport Hospital as a nurse's aide for over 19 years.
She served as a den mother with the Cub Scouts and was the oldest member of Curves, where she liked to exercise. Elsie enjoyed reading, jigsaw puzzles, Bible reading and study, birdwatching, swimming at the YMCA and was an excellent cook. Elsie's number one priority in life was her family, as she was an amazing wife, mother and grandmother.
Surviving are her children, Gary F. Apker Sr. of Linden, and Lana M. Kline (John) of Muncy; two grandsons and a granddaughter-in-law.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Apker, and her nine siblings, William McCloskey, Blanche Young (Boyd), Melvin McCloskey, Oran McCloskey, Donald McCloskey, Leonard McCloskey, Ruth McCloskey, Virginia Henderson (John), and Richard Flax.
A graveside service to honor the life of Elsie will be held privately at Rest Haven Memorial Park, Lock Haven.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Elsie's name may be made to the Lycoming County Hometown Heroes, Inc., 48 W. Third St., Williamsport, PA 17701.
