Doris M. (Sawyer) Pittenger, 76, of Trout Run, passed away on Sunday, December 10, 2023, at Geisinger in Danville. She is survived by her loving husband of 56 years, George L. Pittenger, Sr.

Each place they visited, Doris would find rocks to add to her collection back home. Another frequent destination was to Doris’ brother’s cottage in Canada. She loved animals, especially horses and was great at drawing and being creative with art. Above everything, Doris loved making a home for her family, and was truly a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by two children, George L. “Pete” Pittenger, Jr. (Amy), and Joshua Pittenger; four grandchildren, Jesse, Jonathan (Renae), and Stephanie Renee Pittenger, and Alexander Schuman; two great-grandchildren, Leena and Blake Pittenger; two brothers, Ronald Sawyer (Kathy), and John Sawyer; as well as several loving nieces and nephews.
Along with her parents, Doris was also predeceased in death by a brother Charles Sawyer.
Burial will be held privately at the convenience of the family at Steam Valley Cemetery.
